THREADS. (work in progress) by Dee Hassan, Holly Beasley-Garrigan & residents of Lansdowne Court, Bristol.
Commissioned & produced by Quiet Down There, funded by Arts Council England
A participatory film project exploring community through laundry. Residents at Lansdowne Court in Bristol all use the same laundry room in the basement of their tower block. This project explores perceptions of public & private, respectability, and the unexpected upsides to using a communal laundry instead of having a machine in the privacy of your flat. Combining documentary interviews, projection & site responsiveness Threads invites audiences to explore interconnected stories through an archive of the culturally and personally significant fabrics connected to one tower block launderette. This is a project in progress.
